She regarded Randy with cold, hostile eyes.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing, asshole?”

She snarled it in a slow Southern drawl.

He held up his badge toward her.

“I’m a cop.”

“Yeah, well, I’m Tinkerbell and this is my nightmare.  Get out of it now, motherfucker, before I shit fairy dust all over you.”

Richard J Pietschmann
Chapter 27
September, 10, 1965:
More than three weeks after the Watts Riots finally ended in smoldering ruin, the City of Angels had edged into jumpy calm. s cars set ablaze, and 34 died. But the game goes on at Dodger Stadium "After Koufax fanned the first two Cubs, veteran Harvey Kuenn came up to pinch-hit. One batter from a perfect game, the radio crackled with tension.

“Twenty-nine thousand people and a million butterflies,” Scully said.

The count went to two balls and two strikes.

“Sandy into his windup, here’s the pitch.” A momentary pause, then, “Swung on and missed, a perfect game!”

The crowd roared. Scully said nothing for more than half a minute.

Then, “On the scoreboard in right field it is 9:46 p.m. in the City of the Angels, Los Angeles, California. And a crowd of 29,139 just sitting in to see the only pitcher in baseball history to hurl four no-hit, no-run games. He has done it four straight years, and now he caps it: On his fourth no-hitter he made it a perfect game. And Sandy Koufax, whose name will always remind you of strikeouts, did it with a flurry."

Chapter 26

August, 13, 1965: Los Angeles Ablaze
Ever since President Kennedy was assassinated nearly two years ago, the world seemed to go more and more insane. Malcolm X was killed in February and in March racial tension reached a bloody boiling point at Selma and Montgomery. Meanwhile, a pointless war metastasized into a beast that fed upon itself, a generation gap yawned into a chasm of mistrust, and atomic brinksmanship terrified an already terrified planet as stockpiles of nuclear weapons grew into the tens of thousands.
Arden couldn’t say if he was more horrified or exhilarated. Hate, savagery and paranoia seemed pumped into the very air the country breathed, yet he was thrilled that missionary work had allowed him to explore an exciting new world of interesting ideas and different people on and around the Sunset Strip.

Arden can't get Suzy Creamcheese out of his head in Chapt. 25 of World 0f Hurt

World of Hurt Chapter 25 will rock your world it's a
Catch-22

"Even now, as he waited outside the Mission president’s office, Arden couldn’t get Suzy Creamcheese out of his head. She was so wild, so free, so unlike any girl he had ever met in his 19 years on Earth. She was from Salt Lake, or might be, but he never got to ask if she was Mormon, or had been. He had heard of LDS girls going wild after moving away, even engaging in prostitution." Go  to www.worldofhurtvegas.blogspot.com for more of this riveting novel.
