Howard Hughes wants Oren in his movie Chapt, 32 World of Hurt

Another explosive chapter to enjoy

If you haven't been reading it, shame on you, but if you go to Chapter 32 you will be hooked, trust me.

"Hughes said, “How would you like to be in my movie, Oren?”

Oren hummed a skeptical note.

“Well, Howard, I don’t know about that. I’m no actor.”

“Acting is so easy even those imbecile pretty boys can do it. But you wouldn’t be acting. You’d be a sheriff’s captain.”

Hughes was fishing, so Oren fished back.

“What would I do?”

“Just a few scenes that won’t take any time, but you’d bring authenticity to the part. You could wear your own uniform and that hat Miss Russell seems to like so much.”

Now Oren got it. Hughes wanted him to keep an eye on the actress and report back to him. He didn’t mind Hughes being in his debt, but he sure didn’t want to be his errand boy."

Potty-mouth ER doc getting closer to diagnosing half-dead naked man

In explosive, exciting Chapter 30 of World of Hurt

Randy hung in the back of the ER cubicle trying to stay out of the way as the pit bull emergency doctor hurried over to a phone and yelled into it.

“Page Martone to get his skinny ass to ER twelve fast as those spindly legs can move.”

She slammed the phone back down and resumed examining the nearly dead guy inch by inch. The monitors made alarmed noises.

Randy said, “What’s wrong with him?”

She spoke to the nurse without looking at him.

“Epinephrine, stat.”

S. Weinberg, M.D., looked up at Randy. He knew what was coming.

“Let’s see. His vitals are crap, he’s unconscious, his heart is barely ticking, and his organs are probably shutting down. What’s wrong with him is he’s fucking dying.”

He was beginning to understand that she used hostility, vulgarity and sarcasm as a kind of armor to keep people at a distance. It seemed to work well for her.

He asked another question he knew would get a reaction.

“Why is he blue?”

He wasn’t disappointed.

“Unless he escaped from that Blue Man show, I don’t have a fucking clue.”

Excitement in the ER with Randy and foul-mouthed Trauma Unit MD

World of Hurt
A Novel of Las Vegas
Richard J Pietschmann
Chapter 29
Randy and the foul-mouthed but honey-voiced trauma surgeon stood in the crowded corridor and glared at each other. They paid no attention to the personnel and gurneys streaming around them like a fast-flowing creek parting around a boulder. Neither did the almost hairless, blue-tinged guy slumped in the wheelchair between them.
“He needs help, now,” Randy said.
“Go fuck yourself,” she said.

A comatose naked man, foul-mouthed ER doctor and Arden star in Chapter 28 of World of Hurt

World of Hurt by Richard J Pietschmann just keeps getting better
by Patti Pietschmann

She regarded Randy with cold, hostile eyes.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing, asshole?”

She snarled it in a slow Southern drawl.

He held up his badge toward her.

“I’m a cop.”

“Yeah, well, I’m Tinkerbell and this is my nightmare.  Get out of it now, motherfucker, before I shit fairy dust all over you.”

Riots, Sandy Koufax and rock and roll enter Chapter 27 of World of Hurt

Los Angeles under fire while Sandy Koufax pitches no-hitter in

World of Hurt     A Novel of Las Vegas

Richard J Pietschmann
Chapter 27
September, 10, 1965:
More than three weeks after the Watts Riots finally ended in smoldering ruin, the City of Angels had edged into jumpy calm. s cars set ablaze, and 34 died. But the game goes on at Dodger Stadium "After Koufax fanned the first two Cubs, veteran Harvey Kuenn came up to pinch-hit. One batter from a perfect game, the radio crackled with tension.

“Twenty-nine thousand people and a million butterflies,” Scully said.

The count went to two balls and two strikes.

“Sandy into his windup, here’s the pitch.” A momentary pause, then, “Swung on and missed, a perfect game!”

The crowd roared. Scully said nothing for more than half a minute.

Then, “On the scoreboard in right field it is 9:46 p.m. in the City of the Angels, Los Angeles, California. And a crowd of 29,139 just sitting in to see the only pitcher in baseball history to hurl four no-hit, no-run games. He has done it four straight years, and now he caps it: On his fourth no-hitter he made it a perfect game. And Sandy Koufax, whose name will always remind you of strikeouts, did it with a flurry."

Watts riots, Malcolm X, Arden come together in Chapter 26 of World of Hurt

A Novel of Las Vegas

Chapter 26

August, 13, 1965: Los Angeles Ablaze
Ever since President Kennedy was assassinated nearly two years ago, the world seemed to go more and more insane. Malcolm X was killed in February and in March racial tension reached a bloody boiling point at Selma and Montgomery. Meanwhile, a pointless war metastasized into a beast that fed upon itself, a generation gap yawned into a chasm of mistrust, and atomic brinksmanship terrified an already terrified planet as stockpiles of nuclear weapons grew into the tens of thousands.
Arden couldn’t say if he was more horrified or exhilarated. Hate, savagery and paranoia seemed pumped into the very air the country breathed, yet he was thrilled that missionary work had allowed him to explore an exciting new world of interesting ideas and different people on and around the Sunset Strip.

Arden can't get Suzy Creamcheese out of his head in Chapt. 25 of World 0f Hurt

World of Hurt Chapter 25 will rock your world it's a
Catch-22

"Even now, as he waited outside the Mission president’s office, Arden couldn’t get Suzy Creamcheese out of his head. She was so wild, so free, so unlike any girl he had ever met in his 19 years on Earth. She was from Salt Lake, or might be, but he never got to ask if she was Mormon, or had been. He had heard of LDS girls going wild after moving away, even engaging in prostitution." Go  to www.worldofhurtvegas.blogspot.com for more of this riveting novel.

Chapt. 23 World of Hurt is out! Explosive, dynamite a must read

World of Hurt
A Novel of Las Vegas
Richard J Pietschmann
Chapter 23
Oren: September, 1951
Big ideas fueled by big egos required big money. Like most people in Las Vegas, Oren now understood that. Each new casino hotel ratcheted up growth and tourism. But until tonight while the sheriff waited to get into Frank Sinatra's Vegas debut at the Desert Inn and overheard a conversation, he had no idea how that translated into dollars and cents. A pair of Meyer Lansky’s Miami men in front of him debated what a million dollars in hundred dollar bills weighed.
“That’s a lot of green,” said one. “Gotta be at least a hundred pounds.”
The other hood laughed.
“A million in hundreds is twenty pounds, shmuck. Three million fits in a suitcase easy. A duffel bag is five.”

Chapter 22 World of Hurt: explosive evidence of nuclear testing in Las Vegas

Tyler heaved a weary sigh.

“Yes, sheriff, that is at least partly true, but we monitor weather conditions carefully before every test, and that includes wind direction. Besides, those dust clouds rise to 10,000 feet or more and dissipate quickly. Even if some dust fell locally, the brief half-lives of radionuclides reduces radiation to insignificant readings similar to normal background levels very quickly.”

Tyler talked past Oren to the room.

“Everyone should understand that the low potential for radiation and fallout complications is the main reason the Proving Ground is situated where it is.”

He held up a forefinger.

Unanswerable questions raced through his head. Who was he? Why was he naked? Why was he here?"

World of Hurt dives deep into Shakur murder and the dark side of Las Vegas
By Patti Pietschmann

Each chapter in World of Hurt  makes  you want to go back for me and this one doesn't disappoint.....

"A detective at Shakur’s bedside was still trying to get him to say something about the encounter that was about to kill him when the rapper took his last breath.

Shakur’s last words, said the detective, “Fuck you.”

Randy took a deep breath. Nearly 20 years later, Shakur’s murder was still unsolved. Not calling in the original traffic stop that night was a big mistake. It was a mistake that Randy swore he would never repeat."

What happens in Vegas is Chapt. 19 of World of Hurt by Richard Pietschmann

The plot thickens as Randy's character comes out
By Patti Pietschmann

http://worldofhurtvegas.blogspot.com/2016/09/world-of-hurt-chapter-19-strip-aflame.html

Excerpt from World of Hurt by Richard Pietschmann
Minutes later he pulled to a stop behind several patrol cars with their doors left wide open and took in the mesmerizing calamity spread over the intersection. He slowly got out and marveled at the breathtaking thrill that true bedlam aroused. The pavement was alive with flames, flashing lights, billowing smoke and the shouting of adrenalin-stoked voices that flimsy crime scene tape had no chance to contain. He tried to push the excitement from his head, but the juice of it was just too powerful.

Badge held out in front, he ran toward the pandemonium and saw a uniform he recognized.

He slowed to a walk and calmed himself.

“Nice morning, officer.”

The cop took a beat to respond, eyes focused on the scene in front of her

Arden at the Whiskey, Frank Zappa, Mr.Mojo Risin, Zappa, Mormons and Rock 'n Roll Chapt. 17 World of Hurt

Arden gets introduced to Rock 'n Roll

Chapter 17 World of Hurt by Richard J.Pietschmann is filled with surprises....in the 1960's....
.... a crowd outside the Whisky that they met a wild-eyed kid with a strange magnetism, unkempt thick dark hair and leather pants in the summer heat. Scribbled pages poked out of a pocket and an open beer bottle protruded from another. His unfocused gaze looked somewhere only he could see. One arm was around a girl who looked no older than 16. She held him, probably helping him stay upright.

Arden walked up to them.

“Hi, I’m Arden,” he said.

The kid turned his head toward Arden, but his distant stare looked past his shoulder.

Arden pulled Herbert forward.

“This is Herbert.”

“Mr. Mojo Risin,” the guy said.
The name rumbled up from inside his chest in a theatrical flourish.

Arden said, "Unusual name.”

“It’s an anagram,” Mojo said.

“Hi, I’m Pamela,” the girl said.

Pamela giggled and tugged Mojo closer.

Mojo closed one eye and looked at them.

“You’re not idle youth.”

Arden said, “Why do you say that?”

Mojo said, “You don’t belong.”

Arden nodded.

“We’re Mormon.”

Mojo forced himself to focus on Arden.

Mormons,” he said. “Mormons on Sunset Strip.”

He shook his head slowly.

“Life is a farce we are forced to endure.”

Herbert looked stricken.

“This is the Lord’s paradise.”

World of Hurt Chapter 16 the gentile journey begins with Mormons and Rock 'n Roll

World of Hurt
A Novel of Las Vegas

Richard J Pietschmann

Chapter 16

May 28, 1965: The evils of the gentile world

Reasons were never given to justify any mission call, but Arden Montgomery had a pretty good idea why he was sent to Los Angeles. He figured it was because he loved the same music that had drawn so many rootless kids to the same place. LDS leadership hated that music, of course, the way they despised all the ills and evils of the gentile world. But the Twelve Apostles were shrewd enough to sense an opportunity. With his known passion for Dylan, the Beatles and the rest of that godless music, Arden seemed like the ideal missionary to convert searching young people who loved the same music to the church.
